Sources: Mitch Daniels will be next Purdue University president

11:39 a.m. EDT, June 19, 2012

The Purdue Board of Trustees will meet at 10 Thursday morning to vote on the university's next president.? Their choice will come as a big surprise ? several sources have confirmed that it will be Mitch Daniels.

The governor will leave office early next year and, so far, has announced no official plans for the next step in his career.

His office will not confirm that he has agreed to take the Purdue job.

However, sources with connections to both Purdue and the governor say it's a done deal.

Daniels will add one more title to a varied career that has included such posts as president of the Hudson Institute and vice president of Eli Lilly and company as well as White House political director and White House budget director.

Look for Daniels to complete his term as governor while Purdue appoints an interim President.

France C?rdova, who turns 65 in August, is retiring next month. The astrophysicist led the school for five years.

Daniels can expected to bring the same sort of reform agenda to Purdue that he brought to both federal and state government.
