OMAHA, Neb. (AP) ? Kenny Perry went for broke, and now he is back in contention for a second straight win in a senior major.
Perry shot a 6-under-par 64 at the Omaha Country Club on Saturday and, along with Fred Funk, will go into the final round of the U.S. Senior Open two shots behind leader Michael Allen.
Perry, who was 10 shots off the lead after a 73 on Friday, figured he would need to halve the deficit to have a chance Sunday. He posted nines of 32-32 and got some help from Allen, who went from 63 on Friday to 72 on Saturday and was at 8-under 202.
"I was in that rocking-chair seat," Perry said. "I was in a very aggressive mode, where if I go out and play great today, I've got a chance to move my way up the leaderboard. Or if I don't play any good, it's OK, too."
It looked as if Funk, the 2009 champion, might fade after taking a double-bogey on No. 10. But he birdied the last two holes for a 67, rolling in a 35-foot putt on the 18th. Suddenly, he was right back in the tournament, too.
"To make that putt on 18 was a bonus," Funk said. "Having that good finish was great. At least it kept me in the game."
Allen, a journeyman on the regular tour and a four-time winner since joining the senior tour in 2009, started with a 5-shot lead ? the largest after 36 holes in the tournament's 34-year history.
He went out in even-par 35, but he bogeyed three holes on the back nine and came in with a 37.
"Obviously, yesterday was a lot of fun. I made a lot of birdies and very few bogeys," Allen said. "Today I had a few more bads than goods, but it's fun. It's nice to be in the lead. If you'd have given me a 2-shot lead to start the week, I would have been pretty thrilled to have it, I'm sure."
The 54-year-old Allen has been playing through neck pain. He rubbed the right side of his neck Saturday as he walked up the last two fairways. He saved par on the 17th but bogeyed No. 18 to set the stage for a dramatic finish.
"For a guy who's never had an injury, this has kind of been interesting for me, to see what guys have to go through," Allen said. "I'm trying to get through it. It's still tight."
Rocco Mediate, who was Allen's closest pursuer at the tournament's midway point, had bogeys on four of five holes in the middle of his round and sat five shots off the lead after a 72.
Perry, who won the Senior Players Championship two weeks ago, matched Corey Pavin for low round of the day.
"I birdied the first two holes right out of the gate, kind of set the tone for the day, and it was foot to the floor," Perry said. "I was trying to birdie every hole out there, and I had so many great opportunities. I mean, I played a phenomenal day. It could have been 59."
Perry started his push with an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole, leaving himself only 155 yards to the hole after his drive. From there he hit a 9-iron to tap-in range.
He was the only golfer to birdie the 501-yard, par-4 10th. He drove into the rough but recovered with a pitching wedge to 20 feet. He birdied the par-3 16th and the 297-yard, par-4 17th to get to six under for the tournament.
Perry hopes the heavy lifting was done Saturday and that he won't have to go as low Sunday.
"But if you do shoot that round," he said, "you'll win the tournament."
Pavin, who tied for second last year, bounced back from a 73 and was lurking two shots behind Perry and Funk and four behind Allen.
"When the USGA sets up the golf course, funny things can happen on Sunday," Pavin said. "I've seen it time and time again. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't where guys come back. Probably going to need a little help, but we'll see what happens out there with how Michael plays."

BEIJING (Reuters) - The official Xinhua News Agency corrected on Saturday a dispatch that quoted the finance minister as saying growth could be 7 percent this year, in an apparent attempt to defuse market worries on a more severe slowdown.
Xinhua's corrected story clarified that Minister Lou Jiwei, speaking in Washington, said: "There is no doubt that China can achieve this year's growth target of 7.5 percent".
That amounted to repeating the official target set in March for the world's second largest economy when the new government took office.
Xinhua's original report quoted Lou as saying: "There is no doubt that China can achieve the growth target, though the seven-percent goal should not be considered as the bottom line". The corrected story was issued in English and dated on Thursday from Washington.
The Finance Ministry's press office was not available for comment.
Analysts had interpreted the original report as a signal that the government may be willing to tolerate economic growth in the second half of the year significantly below 7 percent.
Markets showed muted reaction to the reported remarks on Friday. Some analysts suggested it was unlikely he was calling into question the official growth target of 7.5 percent set four months ago at the annual National People's Congress (NPC), or parliament.
China is due to report GDP for the latest April-June quarter on Monday.
Economists polled by Reuters expect April-June GDP data to show the economy grew 7.5 percent from a year earlier, down from an annual pace of 7.7 percent in the first quarter. That marks a far cry from the double-digit growth common in the past three decades.
Chinese authorities, worried about over-investment and strong growth in informal lending, have indicated they are prepared to tolerate slower economic growth rates as they drive through structural reforms.

Galaxy S4 Zoom had received an OTA update, the firmware dubbed as XXUAMFB being rolled out in limited markets only. So, if you own the SM-C101 version of the S4 Zoom and want to install the stock and official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS on your smartphone, use this guide and learn how to manually flash a new software on your phone. This tutorial is an alternative for the OTA method and can be used by all the Galaxy S4 Zoom users that want to apply the XXUAMFB update; don?t use the next steps if you own a different version of the Galaxy S4, or if you want to install a different ROM on your device.
The JB 4.2.2 XXUAMFB has been release by Samsung for the Galaxy S4 Zoom in Nigeria, but the ROM can be flashed manually on any SM-C101 handset ? all you have to do is to follow and apply the next lines from below. During the same we will be checking how to prepare your smartphone for the update operation and then I will show you how to easily install the stock / official Android Jelly Bean software on your S4 Zoom. So, all the details needed are being explained here.
Since this is an official update operation, root access isn?t required; the tutorial can be applied on both rooted and unrooted smartphones though ? if your S4 is rooted, then the root access will be revoked. Furthermore, the warranty won?t be voided ? actually by flashing the JB 4.2.2 XXUAMFB OS on your S4 Zoom, you can restore the warranty if it has been previously voided. So, you have nothing to worry about as the guide is safe.
A backup is still recommended though as is rare cases the data might get corrupted. So, for avoiding the unpleasant situations from happening, before anything else, use suitable backup and restore tools (from Google Play) and save your personal info and accounts, the text messages, call logs, EFS folder and so on. After that, resume the rest of the guidelines from below.
After that, complete the pre requisites from below.
The last aspect to consider: apply this step by step guide only if you own the SM-C101 version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom because the JB 4.2.2 update has been released only for the mentioned device. Using this guide for updating a similar or different handset with the same firmware will probably brick your Android based device, so try not to mess things up.
Congratulations you have updated your Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom to latest and official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. Test the new XXUAMFB system and see how it performs ? if possible share your impressions with us by using the comments section from below. Also, stay close for further tutorials and Android related tips and tricks.

FORTUNE -- Stop me if you've seen this chart before, originally published under the headline?Apple's iPad and the 13 dwarfs, but I couldn't resist posting it again.
Blame it on Evan Niu.
He wrote a piece in the Motley Fool Saturday based on rumors that Apple (AAPL), which has never acknowledged the existence of a higher-res "Retina" version of the iPad mini, may be "forced to delay" its launch until next year.
"Apple can't afford to wait that long," Niu writes.
"The smaller version's biggest weakness is easily the lackluster display. At 1024 x 768, the display already lagged rival devices from?Amazon.com?and?Google, both of which used 1280 x 800 panels in their smaller 7-inch tablets from 2012. Apple can fend off rivals on other competitive strengths, like a wider tablet-optimized app ecosystem or sturdier build quality -- but only for so long."
Perhaps. I'd never before heard an iPad mini owner describe its display as "lackluster."
But based on the relative sizes of the iPad, Amazon (AMZN) Kindle and Google (GOOG) Nexus bars in the tablet usage chart above, Apple may have a little more breathing room than Niu implies.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says overhauling the nation's immigration system can provide a big boost to the economic recovery.
In his weekly Internet and radio address, Obama cites former President George W. Bush's support for a comprehensive solution on immigration. He says if Democrats and Republicans can agree on something, it's a good place to start.
The Senate has already passed a bipartisan bill. Obama says now the House must act. He says Americans should use email and Facebook and phone calls to tell their representatives to take action.
In the Republican address, Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming says Americans are paying the price for Obama's health care law. He says it's time to admit the law is failing. He's urging a "permanent delay" in the law's implementation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President Barack Obama used his weekly address to push Congress to pass an immigration reform bill. The bill's already passed the senate.
President Obama said it would offer a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million people who are in this country illegally
And those millions of new Americans would add $1.4 trillion to the economy over the next two decades.
"Here in America, we?ve always been a nation of immigrants. That?s what?s kept our workforce dynamic, our businesses on the cutting edge, and our economy the strongest in the world. But under the current system, too many smart, hardworking immigrants are prevented from contributing to that success,? said Obama.
President Obama also said immigration reform is something both democrats and republicans can agree on. His predecessor, President George W Bush, spoke up for the law.. just last week.
Republicans are also talking bi-partisanship in their weekly address. But, they want a deal on healthcare. The G.O.P. is calling for a permanent delay of the Affordable Care Act for everyone.
Just last week, the Obama White House said it?s postponing until 2015 the section of the federal health care law that requires businesses to provide their workers with health insurance or pay penalties. That mandate affected companies with more than 50 full-time workers.
Senator Mike Enzi of Wyoming said he wants positive changes to the law.
?There are clear differences between what Republicans and Democrats see as a financially viable health care system that lowers costs, expands choice, and doesn?t bankrupt each of us or our country. But fixing our health care system doesn?t have to be the divisive and partisan,? said Sen. Mike Enzi, (R) Wyoming.
Enzi said the law is so massive, burdensome, bureaucratic and confusing that it's collapsing under its own weight.

TORONTO (AP) ? Scott Dixon passed Sebastien Bourdais with nine laps to go Saturday to win on the street course at Toronto.
It's Dixon's second consecutive win after picking up his first victory of the season last weekend at Pocono.
The 31st win of his career moved him into a tie for seventh on the all-time win list with teammate Dario Franchitti, Bourdais and Paul Tracy.
Bourdais was second in his first podium finish since the 2007 Champ Car season.
Franchitti was third after giving up the position to Will Power on the last lap, but Power couldn't make the pass stick as he hit the tire barrier after slipping ahead.
Maro Andretti was fourth, followed by Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan and IndyCar Series leader Helio Castroneves.
Power dropped to 15th.

Outdoor cats, counting both pets and feral animals, also nab up to 20 billion other small mammals yearly
SUFFERIN' SUCCOTASH: Although habitat loss as a result of human encroachment is a primary threat to birds and wildlife of all kinds, outdoor cats, counting both pets and feral animals, no doubt exacerbate the problem. Image: iStockPhoto

Dear EarthTalk: I understand that pet cats prey on lots of birds and other "neighborhood" wildlife, but isn't it cruel to force felines to live indoors only? And isn?t human encroachment the real issue for bird populations, not a few opportunistic cats??Jason Braunstein, Taos, N.M.
While it is true that habitat loss as a result of human encroachment is a primary threat to birds and wildlife of all kinds, outdoor cats are no doubt exacerbating the loss of biodiversity as their numbers swell and they carry on their instinctual business of hunting.
The Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute?s Peter Marra estimates that outdoor cats in the United States, counting both pets and feral animals, kill up to 3.7 billion birds each year?along with up to 20 billion other small mammals. Researchers estimate that roughly 114 million cats live in the contiguous U.S., 84 million of them pets and the rest feral?and that as many as 70 percent of pet cats spend some time roaming outside and hunting.
?Cats are a nonnative species,? reminds Marra, adding that they often target native species and can transform places that would normally harbor many young birds into ?sinks that drain birds from neighboring populations.? As a result of this ongoing predation, many environmentalists and animal lovers think cats should stay inside. ?The big message is responsible pet ownership,? Marra says. He acknowledges that feral cats may be the bigger problem, but pet cats still catch as many as two billion wild animals a year.
The non-profit American Humane Association reports that there are several ways to keep indoor cats happy even though they are restricted from chasing and hunting wildlife. Getting Fluffy a companion (another cat or even a dog) is a good way to provide an outlet for play. Likewise, interactive toys, scratching posts, cat perches and other amenities?check with any well-stocked local pet store?can make the indoor environment a stimulating yet safe one for housebound cats and should serve to prevent stir-crazy behavior.
Meanwhile, another non-profit, the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), adds another reason why cat owners might want to think about restricting their pet?s territory to inside: Research shows that indoor cats live significantly longer lives than their free-roaming counterparts. ?Life for outdoor cats is risky,? reports the group. ?They can get hit by cars; attacked by dogs, other cats, coyotes or wildlife; contract fatal diseases, such as rabies, feline distemper, or feline immunodeficiency virus; get lost, stolen, or poisoned; or suffer during severe weather conditions.?
But the fact that feral cat populations have gotten so large in recent years makes the problem that much more vexing. Researchers concede that efforts to catch and either neuter or euthanize feral cats have proven ineffective given their booming populations, leaving cat owners wondering whether jeopardizing Fluffy's mental health for the sake of saving a few birds is really even worthwhile.

BAGHDAD (AP) ? Iraqi authorities say a bomb has exploded at a Sunni mosque in Baghdad, killing at least 11 worshippers and wounding 35.
Police say the blast late Saturday struck near the gate of the Khalid bin al-Walid mosque in the capital's southern Dora neighborhood. A hospital official confirmed the casualty toll.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information to journalists.
The bombing is the latest in a string of attacks that have rocked Iraq since the holy month of Ramadan began earlier in the week. They are part of a months-long spike in violence that has claimed more than 2,600 lives since the start of April.

Keeping up on the latest fashion trends, Gwen Stefani took a trip over to Barney's New York in Los Angeles, CA on Friday (July 12).
Looking casually chic, the No Doubt songstress sported black and white pattern skinny jeans, a sleeveless black top and her signature red lip as she chatted on her phone while heading back to her vehicle.
In other personal news, although Gwen is known all around the world, it doesn't look like she has made quite the splash on Twitter as other pop stars including Justin Bieber, who has a whopping 41 million-plus fans watching his every tweet.
However, Miss Stefani seems to be happy with her progress as she recently thanked her fans, writing, "I almost have a million twitter humans following me ?!!!! Wow thanks guys I feel special."

For the first time this year, Republican strategists believe they're within striking distance of taking back control of the Senate, thanks to untimely Democratic Senate retirements and red-state Democratic recruits deciding not to run for Congress. The latest blow to Democrats: former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer's surprising decision Saturday to pass up a campaign.
Republican recognize that they only need to win three Senate seats in the most of conservative of states -- Arkansas, Louisiana and Alaska -- and Mitch McConnell could be a Majority Leader in 2015. (That is, if McConnell can hold onto his own Kentucky seat.) The latest developments underline how punishing the map is for Democrats for 2014, and little margin for error they have.
Democrats can afford to lose up to five Senate seats and still maintain their majority, but they already risk conceding over half that number before campaigning even gets underway.
Schweitzer was the type of grade-A recruit who could nearly guarantee victory despite Montana's Republican leanings. His near-universal name recognition, blunt outspokenness, and statewide organization made him a heavy favorite, especially when Republicans had yet to field a first-tier challenger. Big Sky Country was beginning to look like a long-shot for the GOP.
But somewhere along the way, Schweitzer got cold feet. Montana Democratic officials were expecting Schweitzer to announce his campaign earlier this week, and were caught by surprise when they didn't hear from the former governor. Democrats are claiming -- after the fact -- that they were concerned about vulnerabilities in his background, but Republicans claim that the difficult political environment for Democrats in Montana also played a role.
"We did our homework and there was a lot of rust under Schweitzer's hood ? a LOT of rust," said Brad Dayspring, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. "Just as important though is that Schweitzer looked at the race and realized he couldn't win in light of how unpopular the Democrat agenda of higher taxes, bankrupting spending, and the ObamaCare train wreck is in Montana these days."
Indeed, Schweitzer's backing out is illustrative to a mounting recruiting problem for Senate Democrats in conservative states, which make up a disproportionate share of the battleground matchups in 2014. The party has failed to persuade any of its top choices in West Virginia, where Rep. Nick Rahall and attorney Nick Preservati passed on bids. In South Dakota, the party missed out on former Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin and the son of retiring Sen. Tim Johnson. In Georgia, Rep. John Barrow decided not to run, but the party rallied behind Michelle Nunn, daughter of former senator Sam Nunn. The party's biggest red-state recruit is Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, whose campaign against McConnell has gotten off to a rocky start.
Possible Democratic candidates for the Montana Senate seat include Stephanie Schriock, president of Emily's List, Denise Juneau, state superintendent of public instruction, Monica Lindeen, the state's auditor, Brian Morris, a state Supreme Court justice, and state Sen. Kendall Van Dyke.
On the Republican side, all eyes are on freshman Rep. Steve Daines, who comfortably won the state's at-large House seat last year.
"We remain confident that Democrats can hold the Montana seat and the overall math still favors Democrats next year," said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Executive Director Guy Cecil. "Only three Democratic incumbents have lost reelection in the last decade. Our incumbents are positioned to win, we've already recruited a strong challenger to Mitch McConnell and Republicans have failed to expand the senate map into blue and purple states."
That's been the Democratic saving grace this election year -- that Republicans have struggled to recruit top candidates in the traditional battlegrounds -- against Sen. Al Franken in Minnesota, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire, Sen. Mark Udall in Colorado and for open seats in Iowa and Michigan.
But if Democrats struggle to put Montana in play without Schweitzer, that means the path to a majority will run through Louisiana and Alaska, not the more Obama-friendly confines of the Midwest and Northeast. That's an unnerving proposition for Democrats, given how badly the party has struggled outside their comfort zone lately.

"I just think that it got taken out of context and it's been blown out of proportion," said 19-year-old Justin Carter.???????????
The Texas teen accused of making a terroristic threat on Facebook is speaking out for the first time. Justin Carter was just reunited with his family in Austin. He was jailed after making a threatening Facebook post almost five months ago.???????????
Today, Justin made his first comments after being released.?
"Right now I'm just taking it one step at a time," said Justin.?
That's easier to do after the teen walked out of the Comal County Jail in New Braunfels on Thursday. An anonymous donor gave his family $500,000 for his bail.?
"It's been so much to take in all at once after being deprived of so much, you know, and I'm just really elated now that I'm out to enjoy everything," said Justin.?
Click here to go to the Free Justin Carter website.
Justin turned 19 while behind bars. His family says other inmates beat him up, stole his belongings and guards put him in solitary confinement because of his depression.?
"Disbelief. I still kind of don't believe it, even though he's standing here," said Jack Carter, Justin's father.?
"We're just so, so very happy that he's just outside and we don't have to worry anymore about him being hurt or not knowing what's going on with him anymore. And for any parent, that's just such a relief," said Jennifer Carter, Justin's mother.?
Justin's ordeal started in February, when he got into an online argument on Facebook. According to the indictment, that's when Justin said he would "shoot up a kindergarten", and "watch the blood rain down."?
The teen followed up the violent language with "JK" or just kidding, but Austin police didn't find it funny.?
"I just want to make it clear that people should be very, very careful what they say and it's been recorded all the time. If you say it on any website anywhere you can get in trouble for something that's not, that's not something you should get in trouble for, and I just want people to be warned," said Justin.?
If convicted, the 19-year-old faces two to ten years in prison.
